Other than the preserved units wonder which unit will be the last to operate on the national rail network for Northern.

I’m very curious to find out what will be the very last service to be operated by a pacer unit even if it’s with GWR or TfW

It will be the end of an era

These have been joined by 142040, 142063 and 142067.

142019 and 142020 have been secured by the Whitrope Heritage Centre (Border Union Railway) in the North East.

142034 and 142046 are the latest of the class to head to Newport for scrap.

It seems network Rail is getting in trouble for the problems Northern and Transpennine Express have had with the infrastructure in the North West of England

Like most stations in the Merseytravel area (St Helens Junction excepted} Broad Green station car park is full each day Monday to Friday. Today it was at 0740 when I got one of the last three spaces. When this happens car drivers start parking outside the lines, in disabled spaces and in yellow boxes. People who park legally against the railway wall in marked out spaces return to find their cars with less space in front of them and have difficulty getting out.
Well today a parking warden paid the car park a visit and gave the illegal parkers a ticket. Having suffered the problem myself today I have no sympathy with them.

Problem with PTE areas is the service is often worst and a lot more expensive outside the PTE boundary, so people drive to stations within the PTE area.

Same happens at Maghull station (and now Maghull North station) with them being the first and second stations in Merseyside.. Passengers drive from Ormskirk, Aughton and Skem to park and take advantage of cheaper season tickets. I have even heard of people driving from Leyland to park at Maghull!!!
