Manchester Airport to Barrow/Windermere included as well as Chester to Leeds but the enhancements through Stockport postponed from Dec 17 are still missing.

Looks like this is set up to fail. Wigan-Alderley shown dmu, Alderley-Wigan cl.319, so presumably reliant on availability of class 769 despite needing
a) acceptance into traffic, bearing in mind one has been at Allerton for almost three months without turning a wheel.
b) suspension of the laws of physics to allow them to maintain Cl.319 acceleration with the extra weight of two diesel engines
c) crew training.
.
Some Manchester Airport-Barrows are running as seperate trains to Preston and from Lancaster until the end of June - presumably because 195s are not expected in traffic - or were they to be 769s?

RE: Northern (Arriva Rail North) - knutstransport - 16/03/2019 16:12

769s were never intended for the Barrow route.

Thanks.
.
They have managed to meet the four tph spec at Heaton Chapel and Levenshulme, although towards Manchester not all trains serve both.
.
The residual Northern services via Ordsall Chord have gone

I know I asked recently about timetable/stopping arrangements on the HVL (as in North Reddish, Romiley, Marple) from May, but probably more to the point; is there any chance whatsoever that short forming will reduce?

RE: Northern (Arriva Rail North) - mikestone - 19/03/2019 21:09

I doubt it - on past form they will just go on diagramming to an availability their depots cannot achieve, not to mention having to deal with two new classes, and a deteriorating pacer fleet.
;
Looks as though the extra Hazel Grove-Picc introduced in December has gone - it may of course be because it wasn't in the original spec. Certainly some trains still missing on the Yorkshire side - but surprisingly a third Sheffield-York via Pontefract.

Hazel Grove (and Buxton) got an additional hourly service last year meaning Hazel Grove has 3tph. That additional service remains in the new timetable, with one of the existing services retimed and extended to Blackpool.

RE: Northern (Arriva Rail North) - mikestone - 20/03/2019 18:30

Sorry for any confusion, but I quite clearly refered to the train that started in December, which was just the 07.51 Hazel Grove - Piccadilly.
