Interesting that Terence as I remember when Wythenshawe had the ALX200 Darts (The Skyline ones) Bolton Depot used to do the MOT prep work on those, I didnt realise Bolton still did work for other depots even to this day

Probably will as macc have only got a smallish workshop for repairs & maintenance. Also seems the solos aren't as reliable as expected, really their put to shame tbh.

High peak have an older fleet of optare solos some are x reg but yet they're still plodding along nicely enough, maybe it's the maintenance regime of arriva?

Solo sr's have been problematic since arriva bought them as the ones at st helens are in and out the workshop a lot

MM - yep they're a constant ballache for arriva fitters it seems. Around the same time we got em there were ADL 200 enviro darts.

Stagecoach manchester use these & i've had quite a few meself. Much much more reliable, extra capacity & they look smarter too. Macc's main issue is when a gemini goes off for maintenance or whatever else we're stuck with a solo having to step in on a 38 duty if winsford ain't got a spare decker we can half inch.

Crush loadings on the 38 with a solo is beyond a joke!

Ive always found ADL to be better than optare as the solos with cummins engines a far more superior than the ones with merc engines.

Also for those who appreciate irony, the oldest solo we've got 679 has barely missed a beat yet!

According to some of the macc drivers I know it's apparently an excellent drive.

You say that Winsford has not got a spare decker yet when I am in Chester I am forever seeing Centros on the 84. What are all the deckers doing?

Well least that's how it seems anyway at times with a couple of B7s having been away for engine repairs etc.

Also noticed 2616 is still missing so must still be at st helens being repaired. Regards the centros they'll look brill when their interior refurb eventually gets underway.

Something I don't quite understand is when a Gemini is getting used on 84 shorts, steady loadings, but nothing a commander can't cope with. At the same time I've observed this a Solo was being used on the 38, I've seen this a few times on separate visits.

One of the 38 branded geminis is at st helens engine/body shop
