Even with the recenty cull of Citaroes (none of which have actually left the fleet), there will be in excess of 50 buses in the First Manchester fleet barred from TFGM tenders on the basis of age alone, and nearly 50 new buses are needed *every* year to achieve a 15 year life.

Is this 15 year life a TFGM policy that no buses over this age can operate a public service within its area? Manchester may well get it's share of 50 buses or so or First may be in talks with manufactuers for a second order.

No - the age limit applies to tenders only.

I presume Manchester or Potteries will get something they seem to most years

RE: First 2016/17 order - Metroline1511 - 30/04/2016 19:13

I notice a reduction of orders by Stagecoach and First. Maybe this is in part due to the uncertainties of the Buses Bill and franchising in places, such as in Greater Manchester? Although unlikely, I wonder whether minor players in the area such as Arriva, High Peak or Transdev, independents like Diamond, Stotts and MCT, or newcomers such as Go-Ahead and National Express could gain much work at the expense of the big 2 when franchising kicks in?
