I noted President 4162 from WY here the other week too. Presume they have a couple of the fleet off the road atm.

663, 2564 and 2829 are all at St Helens, 663 has RTA damage, 2564 needs a new Gearbox and then will need a new MOT and 2829 is getting a New Engine

As stated a few pages ago Arriva lose the 79 from July however they have won the 484 Service

I doubt that Bolton will be a priority depot for Arriva for long. They could transfer route 10 to WY, or sell the right to the route, to First and then sell the remaining operations there to Rotala.

I wonder what has happened to Solos no longer required for Salford tenders?

Rreduce dead milege by adding the 10 on to the 263 and interwork them.

Still 3 Solos at Bolton for the 79 Tender they have for another couple of months (PVR 2 plus 1 spare) plus on paper the 494 in Bury on Sundays/ Bank Holidays is down as Solo Operated but certain Drivers take an MPD (still 2 of them running out of Bolton for now)

How much of a difference would there by in WY dead mileage on the 10 to what it already has?

The 10 is a commercial service and if Arriva were to pull out of Bolton without either transferring to another depot or simply de-registering" then the CMA would intervene to stop First having a monopoly. Rotala would still be too small to be of relevance. As for transferring the 10 to WY, I suppose it is possible, but would be problematic in terms of dead running and the fact there is limited cover for 'deckers there. Its one thing keeping 14 year old Presidents out in the elements, but I doubt they would want to risk hybrids in that way.

What I had in mind was a comparison with when EYMS sold the Finglands network to First but not the vehicles. You are right that the CMA might intervene, unless Arriva simply dump the route and First register a replacement service. A bit like when the OFT blocked the sale of First Barnstaple to Stagecoach but could not prevent First dumping the routes and Stagecoach registering replacements.

As Rotala recently took over South Lancs Travel, Arriva Bolton could be a good bolt-on acquisition, if you pardon the pun!

It looks to me like Wythenshawe and Bolton are a similar distance from Eccles, but obviously Bolton is a lot further away from Manchester city centre than Wythenshawe. Arguably it could be slightly more economical if anything to have the hybrids based at Wythenshawe rather than Bolton.

Is it really that much of an issue if there isn't cover for double deckers? Speke depot, for example, which will soon have an allocation of 100 deckers, is almost entirely open air apart from the maintenance shed.
