Interesting that you can use capital letters and other punctuation properly when it matters....

RE: Crosville Club - T42 PVM - 31/07/2012 10:54

hi just an update on my work for my petition

i have sent e.mails to a number of MP's who are in charge of areas along the route in question in hope some of them will support the move to get the service back to bolton, i feel that it is possible to get it if we all stand up and be counted

the link to my petiton is http://www.change.org/petitions/arriva-buses-north-west-bring-back-route-620-to-bolton

please my i ask you to at least read the petition letter and if you agree please sign

The thing is Terry, the current 620 is barely even busy past Ashton and only exists because of subsidy. If TfGM didn't subsidise the current journeys, they wouldn't even exist because Arriva would LOOSE money. There's little point therefore petitioning Arriva. Instead you should be looking to get people who may use the link so that it is considered 'socially necessary' to persuade TfGM to subsidise journeys as far as Bolton. Looking at how many people use the 620 through to Hindley Green as it is though, I think you may struggle.

i dont expect arriva to run it of their own backs i expect GMPTE to put a tender on it and give it a go (only reason i say arriva and not GMPTE on the petition is becuase we would prefer arriva to run it and not first or any other company) hope this helps Smile

I still think you'll have a massive up hill struggle to even achieve subsidy; patronage is almost non-existent on current 620 journeys past Ashton

RE: Crosville Club - T42 PVM - 31/07/2012 12:11

i expect it be hard but am giving myself 13 months to get there service and with me in contact with the MP of st helens and getting someone who signed the petition to get the service back, someone else is going to try the ashton MP with a family member being a personal friend of the MP there so am not giving up Smile

The whole reason the full lenght 620 was withdrawn was as CX54 says arriva were loosing money on it so no matter how many petitions you send TfGM and arriva will say no as there is no point running buses with nobody on them

RE: Crosville Club - T42 PVM - 31/07/2012 17:10

there was people on the service and the main reason arriva gave to withdraw the service (according to an MP's blog) was the service had become unreliable, if GMPTE did tender it then maybe it could last as this time it would be a tender and not of any companys back
