Mine is too but if they rely on that many volunteers for Saturday as well, they've got very few staff booked to work on what's now two of the busiest days for the railway. Quote:As for Avanti the trains shown CAN were due to the Crewe-Norton Bridge blockade. When Avanti cancel the 'via Crewe' services a lot of people use the TfW Rail service to connect with the Liverpool to London services. However, TfW Rail don't have the capacity to be able to handle that. Currently 285 services listed as cancelled, some were known about last night, others have only changed to cancelled this morning. For example, Northern had already said no Preston to Colne services would operate today yesterday afternoon but this morning the first 3 Chester to Manchester via Altrincham services have been cancelled on the day. RE: Northern Trains Ltd - mikestone - 02/06/2024 16:05 Reference to "action short of a strike" throughout June seem to have disappeared though. RE: Northern Trains Ltd - mikestone - 03/06/2024 08:04 Back on both Northern and NationalRail websites now! ; But "only" 70 cancellations on journey check. I looked first thing and a lot of early services were showing as cancelled due to staff shortages, in addition to the short notice timetable change ones. Now the morning services have disappeared, some evening cancellations due to staff shortages have appeared. Northern cancelled both the 07:09 Manchester to Chester and 07:14 Chester to Stockport this morning. The ones used most by school children in each direction. At least there's no discrimination - all the children were late for school, not just ones going to certain schools! RE: Northern Trains Ltd - childwallblues - 08/06/2024 06:26 156416/17 have moved from Heaton to Newton Heath with 156420/23 going the other way. Looks like they are former First North Western units have returned. I wondered whether they might have been North East or Scottish units that have moved across. Some of the ex-EMR 156s don't seem to be very reliable. RE: Northern Trains Ltd - childwallblues - 10/06/2024 06:01 156420 and 156423 were at Newton Heath from new. 156416 and 156417 were former Anglia units that arrived at Northern from East Midlans Trains. RE: Northern Trains Ltd - knutstransport - 15/06/2024 10:54 https://www.journeycheck.com/northernrail Northern are having a laugh aren't they. I don't think Go North West drivers on the Free Buses will be bothered about seeing Northern tickets! It would be more useful if they arranged ticket acceptance between Deansgate-Piccadilly and between Piccadilly-Victoria (and Altrincham if they cancel any Mid Cheshire services.) Due to a short notice change to the timetable and also a member of train crew being unavailable all Northern services across the North West & Cumbria are subject to short notice alteration, cancellation and delay. To assist customers to complete their journey, ticket acceptance is in place for Northern ticket holders to travel on the below operators all day on Sunday 16th June. * Northern - All restrictions for advanced purchased tickets have been lifted, customers are to travel on any available service via any reasonable route * TransPennine Express - Via any reasonable route * Transport for Greater Manchester - Free Bus 1 & Free Bus 2 around Manchester City Centre linking Manchester Victoria - Deansgate - Manchester Piccadilly * Blackpool Transport - Bus services between Blackpool North > Lytham St Annes (both directions) * Manchester Metrolink - Tram services between Manchester Piccadilly > Ashton-under-Lyne (both directions) Northern ticket holders must retain their tickets for inspection by the above operators in order to travel on these services |
