It will probably be fine vehicle-wise, since Warrington uses a number of vehicles in the peaks only each day, and this extension will assumedly be off-peak only (though I can't guarantee that, as there is an outside chance that the old 37 route might be covered by additional vehicles in the peak too, which would require extra resources).

Confirmation that a replacement for the 38 is being sought and that 37 and 37A are intended not to be replaced: "TfGM officers have had discussions with Warrington Borough Council in respect to the potential replacement of this [38] service," as opposed to, "No TfGM action at this stage," for 37(A).

Okay, so it seems that the plan is to extend the 47 to High Legh (slightly different route to the original 47 through High Legh, as it will go through the village to turn around).
The 37 will be replaced by the 35 every hour (omitting High Legh) during the day, and the 5 will operate through to Altrincham every hour, giving a combined service every half-hour.
All services will serve Lymm centre outbound, except for the few 5's per week which terminate short at Lymm Dam.

Interestingly, much more layover will be given on Saturdays and Sundays at Altrincham (typically 8 or 9 minutes) than will Monday to Friday (typically 3 or 4 minutes).
One extra vehicle will be required in the 'inter-peak' period.

Also posted on the TfGM Service Changes page, along with the PDF timetable. The 35 will run between 1000 and 1500. TfGM timetable states that the 5 and 35 are both partly funded by TfGM, Cheshire East Council and Warrington Borough Council.

The TfGM timetable also gives away what the changes are on 1st September 2014:
○ The 0739 service 5 from Altrincham to Warrington will depart 5 minutes earlier from this date, and is given 5 minutes' extra running time
○ The 1435 service 5 from Warrington to Altrincham is given 5 minutes' extra running time
○ The 1536 service 5 from Altrincham to Warrington will depart 4 minutes later from this date, and is given 7 minutes' extra running time

There is to be a shuttle to bus stops along Old Liverpool Road on Sundays while Thewlis Street has its surface redone.
The service number this shuttle is given could be interesting.
I do not know any extra details (or even if Network Warrington will operate it -- though it seems likely), but further information is available at the Interchange.

It certainly does, especially when you consider how much more expansive the Arriva network is ... I got as far as Wrexham the other day on their day ticket!
I don't know about other Warringtonians, but I for one use NW buses as little as possible now, and much less than I used to, because I can feel myself getting significantly poorer every time I step onto one.
