RE: Merseytravel gain London Style Bus Powers - lcm453 - 15/06/2012 06:12 This is a pre-general election policy of the Labour party. They will have to win the election before any legislation can be introduced. It could take years! Totally agree, Labour would have to win an election which is about another three years away, and i'm sure if they win they would have other things in mind to change first, ie, economy, NHS etc etc etc. RE: Merseytravel gain London Style Bus Powers - T42 PVM - 15/06/2012 06:45 yes thats all true but that still leaves me thinking how will this work? i was only born in 1995 so way to young to remember d regso can someone please tell me how will this work? RE: Merseytravel gain London Style Bus Powers - wirralbus - 15/06/2012 07:49 Just look at the London model and each route will come up for tender , Merseytravel will dictate vehicle type be it single or double decker and frequency and they will have to tender on those sort of characteristics . It will then be Merseytravel that tinker the route network then not the bus companies . Im sure the big guns will be looking closely at any legislation to look for any restraint of trade . Be interesting what would happen if one or more of the big four pulled the plug in a metropolitan area . RE: Merseytravel gain London Style Bus Powers - T42 PVM - 15/06/2012 08:18 big 4? there only 2 companys big in merseyside is arriva and slavecoach RE: Merseytravel gain London Style Bus Powers - P450 SWX - 15/06/2012 09:36 Hang on if a company operates a commercial route nothing to do with Merseytravel tbh And merseytravel should bring some old services back |
