Given the Enviro 200 EVs have been spreading their wings recently, I must ask: do drivers get to choose their buses or do the bosses like to switch them to different routes from time to time?

Generally no - although I am aware of a few instances where drivers have been allowed to choose from whatever's left unallocated if their duty starts from the depot during the day
Otherwise vehicles are allocated to their route(s) each morning once it's known what is/isn't available for service

Thanks, I was just asking because I've noticed whilst Bootle's Enviro 400MMCs are generally allocated to the 62, I have seen them on the 60 and the 53 from time to time

It has been posted before but the five MMC's allocated to Bootle and intended for the 55 service tend to find themselves on routes that have a fair amount of stand time. They often appear on the the Sunday/evening 56/58A or 62 service where timings aren't quite as tight. All in all, I don't think that they are very popular with their stop/start facility.

Coming out of the City Centre just after 4pm, I spotted one of the 200EVs on the 18 and it was jam packed to the rafters. You'd think with the 18 being one of the few services serving Croxteth Park, someone would have the common sense to put a double decker on it
