Aren't transponders used to encourage traffic lights to turn green quicker?

I remember when they first started using them in London on Leyland Titans in the late 1980s as congestion was terrible back then (then again it's still terrible now)Smile

These are fitted to buses working into Chester to lower traffic bollards in Chester

Owing to the Mathew St Festival on Sunday and Monday all of the 29-- Pulsar's should be working on the 79C if all goes to plan,

With the other Runcorn routes been covered by the Cadets,

I had Pulsar 2 MX09 EKY (2940) on the X30, between Warrington and Chester, today. I have to say that this bus is an absolute shed! Its engine sounds odd, it rattles like hell at times and it vibrates and makes a loud humming noise - similar to Bootle-based CX58 FZK (2928), but that shed does does it after gear one... - when travelling at high speeds.

Interestingly, passenger numbers didn't justify the need of a Pulsar 2 on my journey, but, needless to say, I've used this service many times in the past when numbers have justified the allocated Pulsar 2. The 79C is different because if a Cadet is full, there's only usually a 15-minute wait for the next bus, whereas if a full X30 refuses to pick-up passengers along the route, in most places, there would be no next bus for about an hour. I think that that's the point that trimax2000 is trying/has tried to make.

You hit the nail on the head with that one, Yes the X30 can have some light loads but in the main they can be some heavy loading the 10.03 ex Warrington comes to mind, Along with the first 3 trips into Warrington, So that takes the 3 buses needed for the service

Yeah, ok, I get the point about the X30, still very much at a loss as to why they go on Busway Circulars and 110 though. Busway circulars, 10 minute frequency, allocated some Pulsars which I'm tempted to say don't carry a capacity load all day long. 110 gets allocated them and once again seemingly doesn't really justify them from my experience.
The 79C has a 15 min frequency in theory, yet that is when it runs on time.
You are seemingly responding to specific journeys on the X30 and catering for the loads it gets, why is the 79C any different, why not allocate larger vehicles on duties that quite evidently need it? I feel like I may as well be talking to a brick wall!
At the end of the day, no matter what weather, rain or shine, I'd rather pay more money to get a Halton bus opposed to waiting another 15 mins for the next 79C. I'm sure others would feel the same.

The 79C is more frequent so in theory the loads can be more spread , the X30 isnt as frequent .

Read my last post! I have said I appreciate the X30 needs them, I dont see why busway circulars or the 110 needs them!
