I am quite sure that this was not in service at de-reg. It's a picture acquired by my Dad, taken on Lime Street working the 14C, in green & cream (no brown on this!) so probably late 70's/early 80's? How early do you mean, as 1681 was a very early withdrawal from Gillmoss as well, probably around 1982/83 ish as remember seeing this parked in Gillmoss in a totally dilapidated state when I was a child. Been scanning some old fleetbooks today, and in the 4th edition, there's a pic of 1972, first time I've seen a pic of it (of course it looked like any other MPTE Alexander bodied Atlantean.....) http://www.flickr.com/photos/dmc1947/8019901400/in/photostream RE: MPTE Premature withdrawals - MPTE1955 - 24/09/2012 15:19 (24/09/2012 15:11)gka472l Wrote:(24/09/2012 15:06)MPTE1955 Wrote:(24/09/2012 14:56)gka472l Wrote: http://www.flickr.com/photos/dmc1947/6276980930/in/set-72157627811579520 Thanks for that. RE: MPTE Premature withdrawals - gka472l - 24/09/2012 16:14 For those of your interested in MPTE history, fleetbooks from 1979-1985 scanned..... http://www.flickr.com/photos/dmc1947/collections/72157631610800649/ RE: MPTE Premature withdrawals - MPTE1955 - 24/09/2012 18:06 (24/09/2012 16:14)gka472l Wrote: For those of your interested in MPTE history, fleetbooks from 1979-1985 scanned..... Excellent scans, certainly interesting to me being a child when these buses were out and when I became interest in buses. Have also seen your photo of 1681, probably late seventies/early eighties like you said. Another reason I remember 1681 was due to the fleet plate being higher up at the front than most of the other buses, thanks again. Same here, remember as a kid (me being the same age as 1361 & 1409!) being taken round most of the MPTE depots in the early 80's, I had my own copies of the 2nd & 3rd editions (long gone mind you....), so these fleetbooks hold much interest for me. RE: MPTE Premature withdrawals - MPTE1955 - 24/09/2012 18:47 I am a similar age to those as well, although more like 1500,just a year later. |
