I think I’m right in thinking WOB are the last operator with routes in Merseyside to have Wayfarers technically Merseytravel are wrong as not every bus in Merseyside has contactless as Link don’t have it ether on their 329

What Machines do A2B Travel use and do they offer contactless?

I had my first sight of 200 this afternoon, and was surprised that it still carries J5BUS. My records, updated regularly from "a reputable source", show it re-registered on an 09 plate since September.

It still evades me this bus. The only one in the fleet that I am yet to drive...

I suspect your source is getting it mixed up with the previous vehicle to carry J5 BUS, an Enviro200. This Cadet was originally 54-registered, so there is no chance of it having received an 09 registration.
