South Lancs Travel takes over some former Maytree Travel routes

Due to Maytree Travel ceasing trading on 4th April, South Lancs Travel will operate some evening, Sunday and Bank Holiday journeys on services 516, 551, 583, 584, 597, 612 and 622. See our 'Timetables' page for more information. The new services will commence from Friday 5th April.

Any idea who new operator will be?
Arent the new SLT Solos run off Vegetable oil?
just to point out the SLT tender cancellations on VOSA are just on for the date they finish, they may not have lost the tender, e.mailed SLT regarding it and thats what they said.
The Scania S600SLT that 'smoked out' in Leigh Bus Station with the engine revving to the max is now back in service! I saw it on the 132 today. It's the one that has the blue 'flames' on the back of it lol! :P
Some of SLT's changes are listed in the documents for Friday's TfGM Bus Committee meeting, with changes scheduled for 8 July.

The 126's weekday extension to Horwich will be withdrawn and replaced by service 517 and new service 518, which will operate commercially. The 518, which will also replace the 516 Saturday daytime service, will run between Leigh and Horwich via Brazley and Pennine Road, while the 517 is extended from Horwich to Blackrod to replace the 714. The 0740 journey on the 126 from Leigh to Trafford Centre will be withdrawn.

The 581 will be withdrawn and partly replaced by services 683/684 and new services 693/694. 683/684 will no longer serve Higher Green but TfGM are recommending that the services serve New Hall Farm. New services 693/694 will run a similar route to 683/684 but will serve Higher Green and not serve New Hall Farm. Both services will run every 2 hours each to continue the hourly service. The 654 will be re-routed to serve Higher Green, meaning the service will leave Walkden 5 minutes earlier.

SLT will take over the Monday-Saturday service on the 597 from Stagecoach, which will be operated commercially.

thats a joke withdrawing the 581 service. all so they can run tendered services, before d+g took over you would not get this at all.

The decision on the 581 was made way before the Maytree collapse happened. The service wasn't commercially viable between Atherton and Bolton, and there are plenty of other bus services along that corridor which meant that a subsidised service wasn't required.

Running buses at a loss is not an option. I have never withdrawn a good commercial service to favour running a tendered service - there is no sense in doing that because tendered services only last for a limited amount of time, while a commercial service is much longer term (if it pays well enough).

Chris.
Thank you for your honest information Chris .
