Hi,

I couldn't find a thread regarding recently preserved Volvo Olympian/Palatine 2 3833 (S833 OFT), previously with Go North East. She was preserved recently by the County Durham Bus Preservation Group; her significance being she was the last step-entrance vehicle purchased in 1998.

I will try and track down a vehicle history of her career with Go North East between 1998 and 2014, as Olympians are something I have a particular interest in.

I have seen information posted elsewhere regarding what 3833 will be repainted into (having been stripped of her simple 'Yellow Bus' branding - which can be seen here - https://m.flickr.com/#/photos/85045832@N...D_w_IS_all - image owned by Flickr user LVNWtransFoto).

I believe she is to be internally refurbished and repainted into the 'Go Coastline' red, blue and yellow livery she wore during her early days with Go North East. It can be seen here - https://m.flickr.com/#/photos/98464140@N...D_w_IS_all (image owned by Flickr user CWG43) - albeit on 3815 (S815 FVK).
I like the idea of some of these Olympians being preserved. If they keep Go-Ahead late 90s corporate moquette, so much the better!

I completely agree. Volvo Olympian/NC Palatine 1 3806 - F106 UEF - was preserved by the same group that did so with 3833 I believe. It was new to OK Travel (there's a good old name for you! Wink) in 1988 - the livery of which can be seen here; https://m.flickr.com/#/photos/24759744@N02/7043118725/ (image owned by Flickr user pcld1) and I believe it was preserved upon withdrawal in around 2010-time. Here's a shot of it in it's later days - https://m.flickr.com/#/photos/matt56120/...D_w_IS_all (image owned by Flickr user Matt Edwards)....but now in it's preservation days it doesn't look quite the same haha - https://m.flickr.com/#/photos/williamson...D_w_IS_all (image owned by Flickr user Matt Williamson).

3806 is expected to be preserved into the old OK livery, I for one shall be thrilled to see it out on the road and at rallies. Smile
Been informed that 3833 is settling nicely into the collection at the County Durham Bus Preservation Group. Smile
