It's a shame that Fishwicks has been lost and a testament to it that it lasted so long after deregulation, 29 years this weekend. Despite intense competition, Fishwicks always maintained a modern fleet and I wonder where its vehicles will end up. A few years back, it was rumoured that Arriva were interested in buying the company. With hindsight, it's a pity that that didn't happen.
Fishwicks have now updated their website with the news of their demise, which will affect all parts of its business.

From the website:

Quote:With effect from midnight Saturday 24th October 2015 John Fishwick & Sons will cease to operate.

We would like to take the opportunity to thank all of our passengers for their custom and support over the years, it is much appreciated.

Anyone who has paid deposits or payments for holidays will be contacted shortly. Please be assured your payment is protected by means of an Insurance Bond.

It is a sad day in the bus and coach industry when a company folds , over the years we have seen plenty of companies fold unfortunately , John Fishwicks & Sons probably wont be the last.
It is even more sad given Fishwicks history. At least they have managed over a century of operations which Is definitely an achievement given the way the industry is today.
LR52 KXJ and LR52 KWW have passed to Tyrers
John Fishwick is no more part of the bus scene than Colin Fishwick part of the Corrie scene!
