Strange they've recently spent a lot of money painting them up, only then to send them off lease less than 9 months later.
Doesn't surprise me they are going to Yellow Buses as David Squire MD at Yellow Buses was previously a Manager at Rotala's Redditch operations.
Further update on the 280:
**UPDATE** 5th June, 2019
Service 280, Preston - Clitheroe - Skipton
As customers are aware commercial operation of the 280 service finishes in just over a week. The last Preston Bus operated service 280 journeys run on Saturday 15th June.
Following de-registration of the service, bids to operate the 280 with financial backing by Lancashire County Council were assessed. We expected a decision from LCC on the future of the service on Monday 3rd June. This decision has not yet been finalised, as LCC are seeking funding assistance from local/district authorities along the route. As soon as news is available, we will let customers know. In the meantime, Lancashire County Council can be contacted via their website, or on 0300 123 6701
The level of service of any contracted route should be akin to the existing 280 commercial service.
Preston Bus is unlikely to operate the service going forward. We would like to thank all current and past customers on the service for their support. Our driving team on the 280 have shown a special affinity with the customers and also wish to pass on their best wishes for the future.
*Gold Easi Passes*
The Gold Easi passes will no longer be available and will not be valid for travel on any Preston Bus services after Saturday 15th June 2019. At this point we believe they will not be valid for travel on any other operator's services. The unused portions of Gold Easi 28DayPasses and Gold EasiWeek passes dated to end after 15th June will be refunded pro-rata, as will Gold Easi passes purchased via the Preston Bus Mobile Ticketing App.

David Squire was MD for Diamond Bus (Redditch, Kidderminster, Tividale etc).
There's no connection between Rotala & David Squire purchasing those ex Preston Bus Volvo B9TL's, they were purchased via Ensign Bus.
Interesting loan to Prestonbus is MAN Wright Meridian 30535 PF09LCO, according to a post on Social Media it's been running round Preston today on 88s with Hymn Numbers in the windscreen and destination set to Diamond Northwest, so obviously it was rushed into service without time to have the destination reprogrammed.

It's not the only loan, recently transferred to DBNW & repainted in new two tone Diamond livery, 30852 has been working the 280 on loan to Preston Bus:
