It is a case though of what one person likes another person will hate though.

The ultimate destination should always be static with the scrolling part providing additional information. In Wales the ultimate is allowed to flick between English and Welsh which is all very well if you understand the place name in Welsh as the bus approaches!
Rather than scrolling, I like the style of the following, showing via points two at a time, one to the lower left and the other to the lower right, both in slightly smaller font.

Looking at that display the two fonts dont look much different and if you showed that to somebody out of the area they might think that warrington lymm stockton heath is a place in Warrington rather Warrington via Lymm and Stockton Heath.
