The stand time 15 minutes at Sheffield is probably for a service train to clear Dore single line on Sunday 6th July
I was on the Dorset Coast Statesman today from Hooton to Weymouth. Long day - out at 6am back ten minutes early at 10.24pm. Very enjoyable. Traction was 57313 in blue and 57314 in WCRC livery.
Also present in Weymouth was another WCRC operated train - the Wessex Ranger from Three Bridges - a steam/ diesel combination.
The Transpennine loco hauled from Lime Street to Scarborough yesterday had locos 47853 and 47841 top and tailed. The 0950 ex Scarborough was 30 minutes late arriving at Lime Street due to an incident at Birchwood.
47841 was due to be replaced overnight at Edge Hill by 47813. 47841 has problems.
THE TRENT ALMIGHTY 06/09/2014
This railtour started at Crewe at 0559 and went to Cleethorpes, Barton-on-Humber and the Immingham Docks Circle. Locomotives were 20309 and 20312 with 20308 on the back for the leg from Cleethorpes to Barton-on-Humber. The route was via Birmingham, Derby and Sheffield. From Sheffield the train travelled via Retford to Gainsborough and then used the rare single track line via Brigg to Barnetby.
On leaving Cleethorpes the train travelled up the Barton-on-Humber branch before returning to go anti clockwise around Immingham Docks.
The return journey was via Scunthorpe and over the new Shaftholme flyover through Knottingley and Mirfield to Huddersfield. Although the train was 40 minutes late at this point a spirited run to Sheffield via Penistone and Barnsley regain most of the lost time.
Returning via the outward route saw an on time arrival at Crewe at 2320.

This excursion should have 2 x DRS Class 57/3 as motive power and some freight only routes including the Sutton Park line, Camp Hill and the Didcot West Curve. The return from Oxford features a run along the recently upgraded Golden Valley line from Swindon to Gloucester.

STEAM TRAINS FROM LIVERPOOL
Sat 01 August Cumbrian Mountain Express was operated by 46233 Duchess of Sutherland. Quite appropriate as this locomotive was shedded at Edge Hill (8A) for some time in the 1950s.
Sun 02 August North Wales Coast Express was operated by 46115 Scots Guardsman. This loco was regularly seen in Lime Street in the 1950s but was shedded at Longsight (9A) at that time.
