A train has derailed in north-western Spain, with several people believed to have been killed.

Spanish railway company Renfe confirmed the train had come off the tracks near the city of Santiago de Compostela in the Galicia region.

A Renfe spokesman told AFP news agency several people had been killed and several more injured.

Spanish newspapers said at least four people had been killed, though some sources put the toll much higher.

Reports said four carriages had overturned and emergency crews had rushed to the scene.

Images carried by Spanish papers showed at least one heavily damaged carriage.
Very strange (and of course tragic) story this. The driver has admitted doing 190kph on an 80kph stretch of track(!). Latest reports are of eighty dead. Thoughts are with the families.
Absolutely a tragic accident, my thoughts are with the victims and their families.
Ive just seen a video of it on facebook if its the right one and by watching it,it was going pretty fast.
Apparently it was doing 140mph on a 50mph stretch of track the driver is under arrest a very tragic accident indeed my thoughts are with all involved.
My thoughts are with the freinds and families who have lost someone or is injured in this very tragic incident.
Thoughts go out to all the families of the dead and injured .

I couldnt believe that there was security camera footage of the accident taking place , that footage is so creepy to know we was watching the last moments of so many people .
