I think the 23/23A virtually parallel the route - I'm sure someone with more local knowledge may be able to confirm this. The advantage wit the ML1 is that was non-stop.

The 22, 23 and 23A would all run from the Trafford Centre to Stretford tram stop, while the 18 would provide a fast link between the Trafford Centre and Stretford Mall. The other alternative would be the 250 from Trafford Bar.

There was a short article in last week's Bootle Champion about big changes to Merseytravel and Arriva services in the area planned for April 2015. In essence Merseytravel evening and Sunday services are to be reduced to hourly from half hourly.
