Indeed, when I worked at Halton BC we were paid a dividend out of Halton Transport's profits - this in effect help keep Council Tax down. If Warrington BC has given a loan to WBT it must not be on terms more favourable than those attached to loans to other businesses, as to do so would again be illegal and would be picked up by the external independent auditors like a shot.

Most, if not all of the remaining council bus companies currently have some level of outstanding loan debt with their local council. A check of the annual accounts will confirm this and the respective amounts.

Halton transport could run independently from the council as its past 12 month the company seem to be thriving again as the council dont put money in as DVL418 as said they get a percentage of the profits gained from halton transports profits which is a good idea to keep the local council tax down where as network warrington is run differently.

Looks like Network Warrington's changes to the 45/46 will be to up their game against GHA recently introduced competing service. Having been on this route this week, I can not it sustaining 2 operators, so can see one of these operators retreating from the route sometime soon.
