Got talking to a CUMFY driver yesterday morning about the removal of these services and he was HORRIFIED that I knew about it, insisting such information is "strictly confidential". I told him "No it's not, it's now in the public domain." (gotta love this thread)Wink

He reckons far too many OAPs are getting on with passes, and when they scan them, the refunds from Merseytravel aren't enough to break-even, hence these services are actually LOSING money!

With cuts to the BSOG, pathetic refunds from OAP passes and the ever rising cost of diesel and insurance costs, it makes you wonder how bus companies make a living without resorting to cash options like Dayriders, Weekly Tickets etc.

Merseytravel may step in and make the 157/158 route an all-day service (currently operated on their behalf by HTL Buses evenings/Sundays), problem is, they're skint as well!

It angers me that the most vunerable members of society keep getting kicked by this cruel government, whilst the super-rich get a tax cut and don't pay a mansion tax.

Are Merseytravel withdrawing the 150 or is just the end of the CumfyBus contract to run it?

The new Ace Travel 500 runs over the top of the 150 service, there's no point having a tendered and a commercial service through the tunnel in the early hours, the patronage really isn't brilliant for a start.

Lets just hope the commercial service lasts then , Merseytravel must be fed up of filling voids in services that were originally tenders that went commercial and couldnt make enough to keep them viable.
Shouldn't of Merseytravel looked into Wirral routes 138/139 and 181, as Avon Buses have been operating over them routes commercially for a few months now.

As there is a tender in place it has to be agreed by all parties if the service is to be withdrawn early , in the case of some companies this could result in some companies going to the wall , so it is always looked unfavourably on .

6 is terminating at Huyton with the 7 extended to Warrington replacing the 7A.

Thanks for this: I imagine that it will still be the case that the 6 terminates at Elizabeth Road in Huyton, rather than just the Bus Station -- do you know?
