Same with the Scanias? i'm lost by that comment
2408 was another fire victim too. It had been on loan to Speke in may 2013 and was returning to Green Lane when it suffered an engine fire on the Rocket flyover.
I think it's got something to do with the radiator design.
Because these vehicles are designed for mainland Europe, the grille is positioned nearside (kerbside).

This is fine for LHD, but hazardous for a RHD design because it means the buses draw-in air from near the gutter (instead of from near the middle of the road).
Needless to say, the gutter is where most of the litter is.
Result? The MANs (in particular) suck-up loads of rubbish from the gutter and either overheat or catch fire.

The relationship with Stagecoach has broken-down over this, and that's why Stagecoach don't do business with MAN anymore.

Sorry yes thats spot on. The radiators have to regularly be cleaned out. Stagecoach did trial using a finer mesh on the MANs but that made the problem worse. Sure this was the same problem with the Mylenniums when they had overheating issues years back. You mainly have issues in the Autumn with all the leaves clogging the radiators up.
Wythenshawe's 3105 has just arrived at Green Lane - not sure why!
2642/2669 have returned from repaint with 2959/60 going in for paint
Just sitting on 2962 on 68, what a mess this bus is, seats are dusty, it smells of burning further back and is a general shed.
4655 is on the 26 today, pic to follow later
It appears that the Enviro400s are not going to see any use on the 7 on Sundays despite previous posts. Every other Green Lane city centre route had deckers today with a rogue Pulsar noted on the 27. Things have changed radically for the better since last year.
