Two 377/2 have now left Southern for Thameslink.

Indeed, I went to Croydon last Saturday and rode 377/615 and 377/704. The 377/7 was on the 11.13 London Victoria- Caterham service in lieu of a 377/6.
377707 and 377708 were noted in Wembley Yard last Tuesday. They were on test to Rugby and return.
Southern have ordered 27 x 4 car Class 387/2 from Bombardier to replace Class 442s on Gatwick Airport services.
I knew it was part of the franchise agreement that Gatwick Express would gain some new rolling stock. I wonder whether the 442s will be retained or redeployed, as they are still quite modern, a similar vintage to class 319s.
Think the positioning of the doors on the 442's is the reason why they was problematic on the Gatwick Express service particulary on the services that operated up from Brighton and ate up all the dwell time at Gatwick and a bit more .

Although the 442s were built in 1988 and are of Mk III design there are a number of reasons why they will not survive the cutters torch
They are dc only and their traction motors and electrical control gear were second hand when new having been salvaged from Class 432 units built for the Wessex electrification in 1966.
387111 has arrived at Bletchley Depot.
The first of the new Gatwick Express units 387201 has been delivered to Bletchley TMD for testing.

I understand that the first of this batch are due for service on Gatwick Express duties at the start of the December timetable, with completion during 2016.
