I passed 2 250s tonite in Maghull, both completely empty!
You have to remember most people in Maghull and on Ormskirk Road heading to town all use the train as its miles quicker to the 210./250 so they are not that "profitable" except on Sunday daytimes.
If they were, with all the operators down the years, especially Cumfybus, CMT, HTL & Stagecoach and even Arriva who all love commercialising stuff they lose, if they thought it was profitable the would have carried on running them after losing the contract.
The fact is no one has ever considered them good enough to commercialise so they cant be that good except maybe match days.

Do you not remember the 130 being ran as commercial service 30/30A by ACE, during the daytime, around 2008?

They made a go of it, using Optare Solos and from what I can remember, the only thing that killed it off was them requiring the buses for other work they had.
Didnt GTL use to run the 30 from old roan-queen square as i remember doing it from the aintree depot when i use to work there.
The 30 GTL ran was different to the 130 in some ways, in its later days it ran along Stanley Road and it ran to Netherton as far as I can remember.
Yes GTL did run the 30 for a while, it was about 10 years when I lived in Bootle as used to catch it every now and then, last time I got it I think I caught Marshall 7601.

They deffinatly did the 30B, did they also do a 30/A ?
Didn't Blue Triangle start the 30, later run by Merseyrider when Blue Triangle were taken over by MTL?

I think at one point it ran via Netherfield Road.
The original 30 ran through Netherfield Road when run my MPTE before de-reg, don't know about the Blue Triangle one.

So do I! Besides being an enthusiast, I'm a paying passenger. I mainly use the 130 to get to a destination for non-bus-related reasons. Passengers who use the 130 have been disappointed too much recently; I think that it's time for things changed permanently... Are problems being addressed properly, Merseytravel?
The GTL 30 ran like the 300 between City Centre & Aintree Station then up to Nehterton.
And yes Ace did run 30s for a bit...but that was "daytime" not e/s, and they still gave up anyway so obviously saw no need for the service. Even if they did have resource issue, they could have brought in more vehicles or reintroduced at a later date...but havent!
