Does anyone know the status of the garage at Bettws Gwerfil Goch? Is it even still owned? I have heard that services 91/95 (Melin-y-Wig - Llangollen/Wrexham) are now operated from Ruthin depot, but I know GHA have at least one school contract to Ysgol y Berwyn in Bala - this is a long way from Ruthin if Bettws GG isn't used...

Many thanks in advance for any info.

My understanding is that it still exists and is treated as an outstation / sub-depot of Ruthin. At least one decker is based there (usually P4GHA which comes in to Yale college and stays in Ruabon most of the day) and I believe there may also be one other that does the Bala school. Also at times there is one minibus usually the Hanmer liveried TIL7583. The depot is situated at the home of the family and I am advised there is a big dog around.
T549 HNH (Branded for Wrexham to Llangollen Express), was a little off route this evening, as it was operating the x50/x52 to Rhyl, picture below:

GHA - June News
.

W591PFS a Mercedes-Benz / Onyx (C24F) arrived with GHA in April 2011 and has now been fully refurbished and has entered service in GHA silver livery. Photo here and also a photo here of the rear which shows the slightly revised rear markings now being applied - showing the fact that the firm operates from centres in North Wales and Cheshire.

FJ06URR an AD Dart with Caetano B31F body has also been refurbished having arrived in a collision damaged condition. It has now GHA low floor livery and should see use shortly. Photo here and also photo here of rear showing the revised rear markings.

FJ06GGU has received GHA silver livery

UYM551 (ex M404EFD Arriva Midlands) Scania / EL has been out of service now for some time with a serious engine management problem and may not see further use. Photo here

S580ACT Mercedes-Benz / ACI is another long term project which is currently being worked on to restore.

LJI8023 Volvo B10M-61 / Plaxton Paramount has been withdrawn from service and e-bay shows that it was sold. It is currently still at Ruabon and has had its GHA markings removed PHOTO here

RIL9160 Dennis Javelin / Duple 320 (transferred with R S Travel) has been withdrawn from service. It is believed to be one of the first production Dennis Javelins and was originally a demonstrator with Dennis.

B10PTL Optare Solo M920 has now received a replacement engine and is currently in the paint-shop.

GO54BCL Volvo B12B / Caetano Enigma is now in the body-shop being prepared for a new livery.

W677DDN Llangollen Express liveried Solo has returned to service hvaing sustained major front end RT collision damage - it has received a new front end from donor T121BUS - photo here

I understand that from 1st July the X52 Rhyl - Denbigh service will become half hourly frequency.

Further to Ron's excellent update, GHA's Vale Travel subsidiary has relocated its growing Macclesfield outstation on Heapy Street, to a bigger yard only a couple of hundred metres away - at the other end of Heapy Street!

Thanks DVL418

On my visit a couple of weeks ago they were using both the new and old premises not sure if this will continue.

Everything seems to have now moved down the street to the new yard
FJ06URR is now out in Service its first route being the 146

.

The latest arrival is R166VLA a Dennis Dart Plaxton Pointer 2 the previous operator being the now defunct 'Riverside Transport' of Paisley - photo here

Sold (via E-Bay) is J472NJU a Volvo / Caetano which arrived as VBW846 - it never saw service at GHA

Solo T645HBF has been re-registered to LJI8023 (photo here ) which was recently on Volvo B10M-61 / Plaxton Paramount 35 which was also recently sold on e-bay.

Now seeing service are FJ06URR (Dart / Caetano) and W465WGH (Vo / President) both sporting GHA low floor livery.

W591PFS the recently refurbished Mercedes / Onyx has been re-registered to XYJ403

Unfortunately Dennis Dart / Alexander ALX200 VX51RBO has been the victim of a RTC with a tractor in Elton and its future has still to be decided.

The withdrawn Scania N113CRL / East Lancs (ex Arriva Midlands) is now being rewired which will hopefully be the solution to the long term engine management problem.

The former R S Travel depot which has been the GHA depot at Middlewich will close at the end of the month and all vehicles will transfer to the new Winsford depot.

Ron
Where is the new Winsford Depot? And what services will operate from there?
