GHA apparently submitted the best value for money bids. In total 4 operators placed bids, the names of which haven't been disclosed but I'd be very surprised if D&G weren't interested in all the available contracts. While I can't see Arriva being interested in all Cheshire East contracts which come up for renewal the 37 contract is a part replacement for commercial services Arriva have decided are no longer viable to run without a subsidy, while the 200 fits nicely in to their operating area so they may have placed bids. Possibly the 19 service would interest High Peak (who used to run it) or possibly the 37 would interest Routemaster.

Does the renewal of the 37 include the 37a/37e?

Arriva's registration revision is:

PC0002598/202 - ARRIVA NORTH WEST LTD, 73 ORMSKIRK ROAD, LIVERPOOL, L9 5AE
Variation Accepted by SN: Operating between Crewe Bus Station and Northwich, Watling Street given service number 37A/37/37E effective from 01-Mar-2016. To amend Timetable.

I get the impression the contract award to GHA is down to Arriva reducing commercial services and the contract is to plug the gap left.
According to the Cheshire CC site its just the evening service on the 37 Arriva have lost to GHA

Cheshire CC site? They've not existed for a while now. There's nothing on the Cheshire East council website about it changing but the information you mention has appeared on the Cheshire West council website.

The Cheshire West website also mentions 'major changes' to the 82 route from 15th Feb (the week before GHA start running on the 84 route.)
Nothing major but just wanted to pass comment on the tatty appearance of some of the 42 gold enviros. There was 2 on the 45 today and both had damaged side panels and one appeared to have one of the side bumper panels being held on by gaffer tape at the back.

Would not expect anything less.

i seen one in warrington yesterday and must say for a premium brand vehicle it looked rather tatty with the damaged panels with what looked like duck tape covering it just under the emergency exit on the offside.

Perhaps if it wasn't a premium service the use of duck tape wouldn't be allowed and the panel would just be allowed to drop off?

Or perhaps the panel could be replaced and not left in the same condition for weeks on end?
