The hey day of Open Top tours was a great time. The Welsh Coast, Liverpool & five buses alone in Southport amongst the popular locations. With Arriva finally ending their era in Southport at the end of 2011, it has now been announced that two old favourites will be operational in Southport again this summer operated by volunteers. ( http://www.qlocal.co.uk/southport/news_l...517666.htm ) & I thought this thread would be a nice place to discuss the buses of old, present & maybe future & to monitor the success of the forthcoming operation.
will they accept donations?
We're certainly hoping it will be a success too!

The official press release can be seen on the home page of our website: http://www.MTTrust.co.uk

Donations will certainly be accepted, and gratefully received.

The old favourites will be 1449 and 1551 will be great to see them back in southport again. Closed top vehicles will be substituted in inclement weather.
It's a great idea. I know similar running days in Lytham worked well & even charged a small fee. I would like to hope that all passengers will leave a good donation. Well done to all who are involved in this KevR. Get onto BBC North West & drum up support. They would love to do a piece on this.
Just a reminder that the Open Top Tours will commence this Sunday, departing from the Promenade bus stop next to the Carousel, opposite Silcock's.

Tours will commence at 12:00, 13:30 and 15:00. so come and join us for some Atlantean thrash Smile.

Costs are our concern, and we're confident we'll cover them.
I'll be there & I'm drumming up support. Really hope this goes well. Southport needs open top buses!
