12/12A/13/13A Preston - Penwortham - New Longton - Longton (Leaflet 240)
From 22 July 2012 Lancashire County Council will revise the route and timetable, renumbering the core routes from Services 3A & 3B.
Revised Services 12 & 13 will continue to operate between Preston and Penwortham via Middleforth Green with Service 13 continuing into Penwortham via Central Avenue with Service 12 continuing to Longton via Whitestake and New Longton.
The service runs half-hourly in each direction on a Monday to Saturday daytime between Preston and Penwortham extending hourly to each route destination.
The revised timetable will provide additional Monday to Saturday peak journeys between New Longton and Preston restoring a halfhourly service.
Broadgate will be served between 0900 and 1500 by Service 3A providing a Monday to Saturday daytime circular service to and from Preston city centre, with certain Monday to Saturday peak journeys on the through routes; these journeys will be numbered Services 12A & 13A.
The two-hourly daily evening and Sunday daytime Service 2B will be renumbered Service 12A and still operate between Preston and Longton, via Broadgate, Penwortham, Whitestake and New Longton continuing to Ormskirk via Tarleton and Burscough. There will be no changes to the timetable for this service and the revised number will fit in with the revisions to the Monday to Saturday daytime service between Preston and Longton as well as complimenting the core Monday to Saturday daytime Service 2A between Preston and Ormskirk.
Preston Bus will continue operating this service on behalf of Lancashire County Council.
112 Croston - Leyland - Bamber Bridge - Preston (Leaflet 255)
From 22 July 2012 Lancashire County Council will revise the route and timetable to additionally serve Clayton Brook between Leyland & Bamber Bridge and Frenchwood between Preston and Walton-le-Dale.
Service 112 will operate between Croston and Preston via Wymott, Leyland, Clayton-le-Woods, Clayton Brook, Bamber Bridge and Frenchwood.
The diversion of the service via Frenchwood, in Preston, will partially replace the withdrawn Service 29/29A, and operate in conjunction with Service 114 through this area.
The diversion of the service via Clayton Brook will restore a regular bus link to Leyland from Clayton Brook and Clayton-le-Woods, whilst also linking Leyland with the edge of the employment area at Walton Summit. Furthermore, with the withdrawal of Stagecoach's commercial Service 12, the area around the A6 at Clayton Brook will continue to be linked to Preston.
The diversion via Clayton Brook will result in the service omitting A49 Wigan Road, between Bamber Bridge and Clayton-le-Woods past Cuerden Residential Park. This area will continue to be served by Service 114 catering for the majority of passenger journeys and the revised Service 118 route past Cuerden Residential Park will maintain a link to Leyland. Analysis of passenger surveys and electronic ticket machine data show approximately 350 annual passenger trips would no longer have a direct service available. This equates to on average
around 7 passenger trips per week across 15 daily journeys.
The service will continue to run hourly in each direction on a Monday to Saturday daytime basis. In conjunction with Service 114 it provides a half-hourly Monday to Saturday daytime service between Bamber Bridge Duddle Lane and Preston via Marlborough Drive and Frenchwood. A new daily evening service between Bamber Bridge Duddle Lane and Preston via Frenchwood will be introduced, on Service 114 (see below), replacing the withdrawn Service 29A.
Preston Bus will take over operation of this service on behalf of Lancashire County Council.
114 Chorley - Clayton-le-Woods - Bamber Bridge - Preston (Leaflet 255)
From 22 July 2012 Lancashire County Council will revise the route and timetable to additionally serve Chorley Hospital Main Entrance, instead of the stops on the A6 outside, and Frenchwood between Preston and Walton-le-Dale. Service 114 will operate between Chorley and Preston via Chorley Hospital, Whittle-le-Woods, Asda, Wood End, Clayton-le-Woods, Sainsburys, Lostock Hall Four Lane Ends, Bamber Bridge Duddle Lane and Frenchwood. The diversion of the service via Frenchwood, in Preston, will partially replace the withdrawn Service 29/29A, and operate in conjunction with Service 112 through this area.
The diversion of the service via Clayton Brook will restore the link to Leyland from Clayton Brook and Clayton-le-Woods, whilst also linking Leyland with the edge of the employment area at Walton Summit. Furthermore with the withdrawal of Stagecoach's commercial Service 12, the area around the A6 at Clayton Brook will continue to be linked to Preston.
The service will continue to run hourly in each direction on a Monday to Saturday daytime basis, with a two-hourly Sunday daytime service. In conjunction with Service 112 it provides a half-hourly Monday to Saturday daytime service between Bamber Bridge Duddle Lane and Preston via Marlborough Drive and Frenchwood. A new daily evening service between Bamber Bridge Duddle Lane and Preston via Frenchwood will be introduced replacing the withdrawn Service 29A.
Preston Bus will take over operation of this service on behalf of Lancashire County Council.
118 Leyland - Clayton Brook - Brindle - Blackburn
From 22 July 2012 Lancashire County Council will revise the route and timetable to additionally serve Cuerden Residential Park, on A49 Wigan Road, maintaining the link with Leyland following the revisions to Service 112. Furthermore, Service 118 will serve Clayton-le-Woods Lancaster Lane, instead of the estate around Pendle Road, Mendip Road and Spring Meadow, which would continue to be served by the revisions to Service 112
The service will continue to run two hourly in each direction on a Monday to Saturday daytime basis.
Darwen Coach Services Ltd will continue operating this service on behalf of Lancashire County Council
WEST LANCASHIRE SERVICES
378/385 Wigan - Skelmersdale - Ormskirk - Southport (TfGM leaflet)
From 22 July 2012 Arriva Merseyside will revise the timetable amending the 1800 Monday to Saturday journey from Southport to Wigan to terminate at Ormskirk, no longer operating through to Skelmersdale and Wigan. Alternative departures are available at 1711 & 1840 from Southport or 1757 & 1912 from Ormskirk.
CHORLEY SERVICES
1/1A/2/2A Chorley Hospital - Eaves Lane - Chorley - Coppull (STG leaflet)
From 22 July 2012 Stagecoach in Lancashire will revise the route and timetable merging with Services 11, 12 & parts of Service 18 which will extend these services through to Chorley Hospital via Eaves Lane.
Services 1, 2 & 2A are commercial services run by Stagecoach between Chorley Hospital, Chorley and Coppull. The loops within Coppull off the main B5251 road around Chapel Lane, Lancaster Street and The Heys as well as serving Springfield Road and Park Road will continue to be served as present.
Also incorporated within these extended services are the sections of the withdrawn Service 18 route, part subsidised by Lancashire County Council, as follows:
Walgarth Drive and Collingwood Road will be served by Service 1; Harrison Road and Eaves Green Road will be served by Service 2/2A.
These revisions will create a new direct link between Coppull and parts of south west Chorley through the town centre with Chorley Hospital.
The Monday to Saturday daytime frequency will be every 30 minutes in each direction, with each of the diversions within Chorley and the loops in Coppull served hourly. Harrision Road and Pilling Lane will be additionally served by revised Service 3 (see below for details).
Lancashire County Council's subsidised hourly Monday to Saturday evening and Sunday daytime Service 11A, which operates a circular route between Chorley and Chorley via Eaves Lane, will be renumbered Service 1/1A in line with the commercial Monday to Saturday daytime service.
3/3A Chorley - Adlington - (Blackrod) (STG leaflet)
From 22 July 2012 Stagecoach in Lancashire will revise the route and timetable to operate between Chorley and Adlington only. The section through to Blackrod will be withdrawn with the exception of a single return journey on Tuesday and Friday market days.
The route between Chorley and Adlington will also be revised with all journeys operating via Harrison Road, Pilling Lane, Carr Lane and Kirkstall Road to the A6 Bolton Road, and then continue through to Adlington serving Rawlinson Lane at Heath Charnock.
The Monday to Saturday daytime frequency will be every hour in each direction, with the additional single return Service 3A journey, between Blackrod and Chorley, on Tuesday and Friday market days. The sections of route serving Lower Burgh and Limbrick will be withdrawn; however Lower Burgh will continue to be served by Lancashire County Council's revised Service 337 which runs every two hours Monday to Saturday daytime (please refer to Leaflet 264 for details).
Analysis of manual surveys and Electronic Ticket Machine (ETM) data for Limbrick has shown that on average there are 1,250 annual passenger trips made on the withdrawn section. This equates to 25 passenger trips per week and less than 1 per journey over the 30 weekly journeys. Due to this low usage it would not be sustainable for Lancashire County Council to provide a replacement service for Limbrick.
10 Chorley - Astley Village - Chorley Hospital (STG leaflet)
From 22 July 2012 Stagecoach in Lancashire will revise the route and timetable, restoring the service to its previous route between Chorley and Chorley Hospital via Astley Village, removing the trial service around Buckshaw Village. This revision will meet requests from Astley Village residents to restore the direct link to Chorley Hospital.
The Monday to Saturday daytime frequency will be every 30 minutes in each direction. Lancashire County Council's subsidised hourly Monday to Saturday evening and Sunday daytime Service 10A, which operates between Chorley and Chorley Hospital via Astley Village, will be renumbered Service 10 in line with the commercial Monday to Saturday daytime service.
Stagecoach introduced the extension around Buckshaw Village in September 2011 in an attempt to provide a regular bus service for the residential areas of the village off Central Drive, which is served by the regular Service 109, which already links Buckshaw Village with Chorley, Leyland and Preston. Stagecoach has decided that it is not commercially viable to maintain this link. Analysis of manual survey and Electronic Ticket Machine (ETM) data has shown that, on average, there are 8,000 annual passenger trips made on the withdrawn section without an alternative service available. This equates to 160 passenger trips per week and less than 2 per journey over the 100 weekly journeys.
A standalone replacement service would be unsustainable based on the current frequency but, as part of a contract renewal with Services 337 & 347, Lancashire County Council will introduce a new replacement service generally maintaining a 30 min peak/60 min off-peak bus service between Chorley and Buckshaw Village, via the Hospital (A6 Stops) and Buckshaw Avenue, accessing the employment areas which are currently not served. For full details please refer to Leaflet 265.
11/12 Chorley - Eaves Lane - Chorley Hospital - Whittle-le-Woods - Preston (STG leaflet)
From 22 July 2012 Stagecoach in Lancashire will merge parts of this service with the revised Services 1, 2 & 2A between Chorley Hospital, Chorley and Coppull, see above for details.
However, the Service 12 extension beyond Chorley Hospital to Preston will be withdrawn. The majority of this route is covered by the frequent core Service 125, which operates between Bolton, Chorley and Preston.
All Monday to Friday daytime journeys on Service 125 operate via Walton Summit industrial area, which leaves the section of the A6, between Clayton Brook and Bamber Bridge, past Mallards Walk, no longer being served by public transport.
As part of Lancashire County Council's revisions to Service 112, between Preston, Leyland and Croston, a bus service will be maintained during Monday to Friday daytime along this section (see below for details).
14 Chorley - Buckshaw Village (Leaflet 265)
From 22 July 2012 Lancashire County Council will introduce this new service, partially replacing Stagecoach's withdrawal of Service 10 from Buckshaw Village.
This new service will operate Monday to Saturday daytime; generally an half hourly peak & hourly off-peak bus service between Chorley and Buckshaw Village, via the Hospital (A6 Stops) and Buckshaw Avenue, accessing the employment areas which are currently unserved.
R S Tyrer Ltd will operate this service on behalf of Lancashire County Council.
18 Chorley - Walgarth Drive - Eaves Green Square (STG leaflet)
From 22 July 2012 Stagecoach in Lancashire will merge this service with the revised Services 1, 2 & 2A between Chorley and Coppull, see above for details.
337 Chorley - Eccleston - Mawdesley - Parbold - Ormskirk (Leaflet 265)
From 22 July 2012 Lancashire County Council will revise the route and timetable to additionally serve Lower Burgh Way following Stagecoach's decision to revise their Service 3 away from this area. The main stop on Lower Burgh Way will once again be served following its removal at a previous network review by Stagecoach. This will restore the service closer to where most customers live and, at the same time, provide new direct travel opportunities to West Lancashire.
Service 337 will continue to operate between Chorley and Ormskirk via Lower Burgh, Charnock Richard, Eccleston, Mawdesley, Parbold and Burscough.
The service will continue to run every two hours in each direction on a Monday to Saturday daytime basis between Chorley and Ormskirk. In conjunction with Service 347 an hourly link between Chorley, Eccleston and Mawdesley will still be provided.
R S Tyrer Ltd will operate this service on behalf of Lancashire County Council.
347 Chorley - Eccleston - Mawdesley - Rufford - Southport (Leaflet 264)
From 22 July 2012 Lancashire County Council will revise the timetable to maintain the hourly link in conjunction between Chorley, Eccleston and Mawdesley with Service 337.
There are no proposed changes to the route and the service will continue to run every two hours in each direction on a Monday to Saturday daytime basis between Chorley and Southport via Euxton, Eccleston, Mawdesley and Rufford. In conjunction with Service 337 an hourly link between Chorley, Eccleston and Mawdesley will still be provided.
R S Tyrer Ltd will operate this service on behalf of Lancashire County Council.
X25 Preston - Chorley - Manchester/Trafford Centre (STG leaflet)
From 22 July 2012 Stagecoach in Lancashire will withdraw these remaining journeys on this service. This service previously operated as Service X61 and provided an hourly service between Preston, Chorley and Manchester which has been gradually reduced over the last couple of years.
Alternative journeys are available for the majority of the remaining customers using the rail network, with the other journeys possible by connecting services.
