Cheshire & Warrington LEP have drawn up a proposal for the HS3/Northern Powerhouse Rail station serving Warrington to be Warrington Bank Quay station, not an out-of-town Warrington Parkway station as currently proposed. A business plan is to be drawn up half funded by Warrington Borough Council and half funded by Cheshire & Warrington LEP. It could also link in to Warrington Borough Council's "Last mile" plans which aim to improve the walking, cycling and bus routes from the stations to the places of work.
Cheshire & Warrington LEP have also voiced concerns about the impact the Liverpool to Manchester Airport part of the route would have on the village of High Legh, also close to the HS2 route.
