X8 to be withdrawn from 28 October 2012, while the 8 reverts to a Burnley-Bury route. Was kind of tucked away under the changes in Blackburn and fare increases that have just taken place.

Primo YX60 DWW has been rebranded for the UB1 University shuttle route (see here)

Although the new York Sport Village has now opened, the road from the Ron Cooke Hub (on the University's Heslington East campus) to the centre won't be open until December so the 44 is continuing to terminate at the RCH. I'd imagine that there'll need to be a PVR increase of one for the extended route. The UB1 is serving the sports village but via an obscure route.

THis week has also seen a huge variety of buses used on the route, as well as buses in the old and new unibus livery, there have also been ones in York colours, Coastliner livery, transdev red and Lancashire United! I'm pretty sure that there aren't enough branded vehicles anyway to cover the PVR for the 44, are there any plans afoot to sort this out?
News article on the Transdev Lancashire website about the withdrawal of the X8 and curtailment of the 8 to run between Burnley and Bacup from next week and it seems that they've admitted defeat to Rossendalebus on the Bacup-Bury section of the route.

From Transdev website:

"With effect from Monday 29th October 2012 Service 8 will be revised to operate only between Burnley Bus Station and Bacup town centre. This will operate hourly in a similar fashion to what was operated up until October 2011. The section of route between Bacup and Bury will be withdrawn although alternative services are now provided by another operator. When we launched this new route last year the support of customers was great and it is with disappointment that we have taken the decision to stop operating but we cannot run the route profitably in the face of competition from another operator who latterly chose to offer the same route."
