Merseytravel must be looking at the route 181 closely to see if the route via Manor Drive can be shortened now that the 16/16a operate via Manor Drive . Avon are one of the better independent service operators.
Avon have some classy buses, especially the MCVs, but even some Darts seem quite elegant. It is just a pity I have been unable to find a website of theirs. I didn't ride any Avon buses in the Wirral today, but I hope to ride at least route 77 next time. I rode route 11 and one other route on my previous visit to the Wirral in 2009.
Great news that Avon are withdrawing the 40 / 40A route. Another blow for Saughall Massie having has the 17 recently reduced to hourly during the day.. Many Thanks

Dont forget there is a change to the 86 / 87 around the same date .
Well Stagecoach are introducing 38A which will serve Saughall Massie and Sandbrook. Also it will run into the nights and on Sundays, so Saughall Massie isn't without loss
Stagecoach evening journeys from Saughall Massie finish at 2114(m-s) and 1809(sun) and last journeys finishing/going via Saughall Massie are at 2019(m-s) and 1814(sun).
Also Stagecoach are only operating an hourly Sunday service.
Is the 86/87 being curtailed to operate Eastham/Mill Park and West Kirby?
I would like to see what Avon do here , will they roll up and die or fight to the end , that is the question that will be answered over the summer.
I can see them rolling up their sleeves and fighting, however how long they could sustain it is another matter entirely, hopefully they will sustain it.
I wonder how long before the Liverpool 122 either becomes a casualty of the Wirral operations coming under fire or Stagecoach at Gillmoss takes a pop at it .
I thought that the 122 was a merseytravel contract.
