With only a small amount of bids in for this funding around the country , is it more cost effective for them try and obtain these new technologies commercial themselves .
I heard a while back that the 79 Liverpool to Netherley/Halewood route was roumored to be getting some Hybrid deckers and the 61 plate Gemini 2s currently on this route would be cascaded to other routes operated by Speke depot. Is this still in the pipeline? Thanks.

As there's only funding for 23 ULEV vehicles if there's any double deckers ordered for the 79/79D then they will be diesel powered rather than hybrids
From what ive heard the hybrids are more expensive to buy so most firms would look at diesel power due to being cheaper to buy and by there not being much funding for hybrids is it worth the hassle for smaller firms to bid for if they are cheaper to buy diesel power instead.
