Yesterday due to the works Northern was running a Wigan North Western - Bolton Service using one of the Bay Platforms at North Western, It made me think, when was the last time the Bay Platforms hold a regular Service and when did Wigan North Western lose its link to Bolton?
Before Springs Branch came into use a few years ago, the Liverpool service always used Platforms 2 & 3. These are mainly used by Manchester trains these days although the 319's have been known to venture into there if there has been anything blocking Platform 6.
