Some sad news in Emmerdale this week has been the death of screen character Ruby, played by Alicya Eyo. The story was tragic as a helicopter crashed into the village hall where Ruby and others were present. Her farewell was tender as she shared her concerns with friends Dan and Kerry, who were by her side at the time, about how her partner would feel.

I came to find Alicya prettier as time went on. She is from our neck of the woods, Toxteth in Liverpool, and even once stated in the soap that her character Ruby was from there too! She thus kept her true accent rather than pretending to speak Yorkshire. Alicya's biggest role before Emmerdale was in Bad Girls as Denny.
