Weather problems:
No Trains between Heworth and Gateshead Staduim, Regent Centre and Kingston Park and Benton and North Shields
Byker, Central Station, Mounment and Haymarket all closed, Jesmond Platform 2 (towards South Gosforth) is closed, entrances at certain stations are also closed

Metro passengers should expect serious disruption and leave extra time for journeys, gaps of 20 minutes in most cases but up to one hour. Use alternative travel where possible. Engineers are still repairing damage in parts of the system.
Metro is suspended between Benton and Monkseaton.
Rush hour trains to and from Pelaw are cancelled this morning so other trains will be busier than normal.
My refurbished Metro rides were in card 4041 and 4058. Given that the line around South Shields is closing next Saturday for just over 3 weeks, my decision to go to Newcastle last week and to London for the Olympics bus services next weekend, rather than viceversa, has proved vindicated.
It was bizarre that the station decor at Haymarket has been refurbished but the ticket machines not replaced, yet they have at some other places like Fawdon. It would have been such good publicity to have a flagship station in the city centre.
Yes, they are all supposed to be completed eventually but Haymarket Station was refurbished before the new ticket machines were introduced across the network which is probably why it doesn't have them but is rather strange.

Stage 2 - Same as stage 1 except from the Removed Glass Partitions Except Door Vestuibles, BrightTech LED Destination and Diagram Displays, LED Head/Fog/Rear Lights fitted and interior Next-stop destination displays and automated voice announcements fitted on-board. Livery consists of Red or Blue or Green with Yellow Diagonal Swoops and yellow offset doors and some Metrocars in special advert/historic liveries.
Stage 3 - Same as Stage 2 but with Black/Grey/Yellow seat moquette, grey and white wall panels, sandstone coloured flooring and new energy efficent lighting. Also fitted with modified seating layout sporting a wheelchair bay adjacent to doors with a small seat for standing passengers to lean onto. Livery consists of new dark grey with black window surrounds and yellow/black strips on cab ends. Also fitted with roof air-conditioning units above cabs on both ends.

Hi, I was on Metrocar 4001 on a Monkseaton bound service yesterday, and when it approached Monument, the display only showed ''The next station is Monument'', whereas the voice announcement said the full script. Is it normal for a Monkseaton bound train to only show this or have the displays been changed?

Managed to find out myself. It appears to only be short workings that will display the 'cut down' message.
